I needed some inspiration for a post today and I remembered that Skip To My Lou has a little “get together” every Monday where you can post projects that you’ve been working on recently. I thought I’d share a project that has been a LONG time coming.
I’ve been trying to come up with an inexpensive and easy way to make curtains for all of these windows.
I got this great idea after seeing Trish from Life to the ‘T’ make beautiful burlap curtains.
These curtains from Ballard Designs were her inspiration:

The only problem is they cost $40 – $60 per panel! WOW!
I didn’t need long curtains like the one’s pictured above but I thought this might work well for valances in our sunroom. So I ran out and bought $15 worth of burlap at Joann’s. Got home cut some fabric, ironed on some stitch witchery, frayed the ends and voila! Simple, airy, natural, window valances! (and, yes I really should iron them!)
I might add some other details to the curtains later, but for now I have to finish it up, I still have to finish curtains for 9 more windows! Lots of work to do but it was so easy I hope to finish it up today!
I really love this table cloth too. If I have leftover fabric I may have to do a table cloth as well.

Be sure to hop over to Skip To My Lou and see all the other great projects that other mom’s are working on this week!

Love this idea! We only have 7 windows in our sun room, but ran into the same problem: didn’t like the curtains we had, but didn’t have the money to dress 7 windows. I may snag this idea!
It is so very easy. I wouldn’t say it’s a neat process, which explains why we have YET (yes, it’s been over a year) finished all of our curtains for the sunroom. I’m hoping to finish them up in the next few weeks and post pictures of the updated room. Finally!
