Spring Cleaning – Day 3 – Finally de-cluttered our Bedroom

by Donna on May 6, 2009

Ok… crying baby has been soothed to sleep. Cranky toddler is taking her nap. So I finished cleaning out the bedroom.

We have a a common problem in our bedroom…

Storage - we live in an older home with tiny closets, like 3′ wide! We know we need a real wardrobe in the near future but they seem so expensive. Right now we are using a portable wardrobe I scored off Freecycle. It’s a bargain – FREE – but it’s a piece of junk! We have 3 boxes propped up against the wardrobe so that it stays up. It is also completely full. My sweetie has to wear white dress shirts to work and he also insists on hanging up all of his polo shirts. He has 5 times as many shirts as I do!   What should I do??
Here are the before and after pictures… now THIS is  a messy room…

Phew! Just looking at these pictures makes me tired.  Now I can actually get to my bed at night!

Wow! That looks awesome! I have actually been struggling with getting this Spring Cleaning Party on. I did good Monday but then Tuesday I had to run errands all day. Yesterday, I was just down right frustrated! So I am really behind. Kudos to you for doing what your supposed to be doing! Someone needs to pray for me for some motivation!! LOL!

My husband does the EXACT same thing with his shirts, except he has a bajillion flannels that he never wears and insists on keeping. Thus, his side of the closet never has any room, and somehow they all creep over to my side (lol). I like the idea of the wardrobe! You did a beautiful job! The room looks so calm and relaxing. Keep up the good work!

These before and after pics are really dramatic! Not having closet space for hanging items must be so frustraiting. I think your solution looks really good! Great post.
